Aquem skeletal remains belongs to Bijapur man murdered in 2008, 1 held

MARGAO: Just hours after unearthing skeletal remains from a property in Aquem, Margao, police have identified the victim as well as cracked the case. Margao police on Monday arrested a native of Bijapur, Karnataka for the murder that was committed in 2008 and identified the victim who was also from the same village.

The accused Pashuram Doranahalli has admitted to committing the murder in compliance with his mother Renuka.

Margao PI Kapil Nayak informed that the victim Bhimsen was staying with the family of Renuka, who was caretaker of the house owned by one Ismael Sheikh, who was in Dubai.

Nayak said that during investigation, the police got some leads from one person identified as Irrapa who knew Bhimsen and Renuka. Irrapa informed that in June 2008, Bhimsen had disappeared under mysterious circumstances after a fight with Renuka and her children and upon inquiry they informed that he had left for Bijapur.

The owner also informed that he had received a call from the caretaker that she was leaving for her native place while four days later her daughters claimed that the two were killed during to a family dispute.

A police team led by PSI Suraj Gaus accompanied by Irrapa was sent to Bijapur however the accused had relocated to Kunnur. The police team then headed to Kunnur and finally tracked the accused who admitted to have committed the crime along with his mother. Giving an account the incident, the accused said that in June 2008 he along with his mother assaulted Bhimsen over a fight as he was harassing his mother and during the scuffle the deceased was choked to death.

He said that the body was then buried in the extension of the backyard from where the skeletal remains were exhumed on Sunday. Police informed that Renuka however committed suicide in 2008 after consuming pesticides.

Nayak informed that the police team has been rewarded a cash prize by SP south for promptly solving the case.
