The Department of Art and Culture will organise a talk by Swami Smaranananda Giri, the vice-president of the Yogoda Satsanga Society of India on ‘Leading a balanced and joyous life through yoga meditation on January 23, at Kala Academy, Panaji from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. as a part of 2019 D D Kosambi Festival of Ideas.
Swami Smarananda Giri is a monk of YSS India. An IIT Alumnus, he has won several awards and medals in his academic career. He has been awarded the Distinguished Alumnus award in 2018 by IIT Kharagpur for his outstanding achievements.
The talk by Swami Smaranananda Giri is a part of an initiative by the Government of India to commemorate the 125th birth anniversary of Sri Paramhansa Yogananda (1893-1952), the father of yoga, author of Autobiography of a Yogi, a great spiritual figure from India who spread the message of Yoga to the west.
