Bandora VP to levy one-month rent from landlords

PONDA: With a number of people renting out their premises, the Bandora village panchayat during the gram sabha on Sunday resolved to charge one-month rent as panchayat fees from the landlords for each tenant. The decision was taken in order to bring in the much-needed revenue for the panchayat.

Earlier, villagers raised the issue in view of rise in number of villagers renting out their premises.

Though a lot of villagers are renting out their premises, the panchayat is not getting any revenue, said panch members. After discussion, the panchayat with a majority passed a resolution to charge one-month rent as panchayat fees from landlords.

During the gram sabha, the issue of Bandodkar ground in the village, which has not yet been handed over to the panchayat by PWD following its renovation, was also discussed. The villagers urged the panchayat to take over the ground so that they can have easy access.

The gram sabha was chaired by sarpanch Ajay Naik and was monitored by secretary Sachit Gaude.
