PONDA: Body of an unknown man was found in a valley in Anmod Ghat area around 2 km from Dudhsagar temple in Collem late Wednesday night with a nylon rope around the neck and strangulation marks on it.
Based on the post-mortem, police have registered a murder case against unknown accused, informed police inspector Harish Madkaikar of Collem police.
As per information, some locals capturing pictures of the sunset from the Anmod Ghat noticed the body in the hilly terrain on Wednesday evening and informed Collem police. Police rushed to the spot and conducted the panchanama late night. Dog squad and forensic expert team were also rushed to the spot.
Police informed that the body was thrown down the hills around 50-100 metre deep into the valley from the main road. The victim seems to be aged between 50 to 55 years, informed a police officer. From clothes, the person seems to be a non-Goan. He was wearing white shirt, blue checked lungi, khaki colored woolen cap and brown sweater, added the officer.
Police inspector Madkaikar said that the death is certified as due to strangulation and forceful feeding of corrosive substance. An offence has been registered against unknown person for murder and destroying evidences under sections 302 and 201 of IPC.
