Crime Branch police has written to the Goa State Biodiversity Board (GSBB) requesting to examine marijuana plants that were seized during a raid in a rented house in Siolim.
Police had arrested Maxim Moskichev in connection with the seizure of marijuana plants and Artem Seregin in connection with seizure of 50 gram charas during a raid conducted in a rented house in Siolim on Saturday.
Both the accused are Russian nationals, police said. Moskichev has been remanded to 4 days police custody while Seregin has been released on conditional bail, informed police.
According to police, Moskichev was reportedly growing marijuana in one of the rooms in the rented premises (ground floor) while Seregin was arrested in connection with the seizure of 50 grams charas. Both the accused were staying in the same house in separate rooms, informed police.
Police said that marijuana, which is also known as ganja, weighing around 30 kgs, and 50 grams charas totally worth around Rs 10 lakh was seized.
The accused Moskichev was growing marijuana in a controlled environment in the rented premises in Siolim, police said.
