Department of social work at Don Bosco College, Panaji organised an alumni meet on the occasion of World Social Workers Day on the theme ‘Building Relationships’. Alumni of the college were present at the occasion.
Chief guest at the function was professional social worker Aparna Palenkar. Guests of honour were Fr Joaquim Lobo and principal, Cedric Silveira.
In her address, Palenkar spoke about the main values of social work and emphasised on the importance of communication and empathy in human relationships.
The alumni of the college discussed the social work profession in Goa and how field work is important. Priyanka Narvekar spoke about how learning little things at field work can help in one’s work. While Aprajita Mandrekar spoke about expanding one’s wings and exploring one’s potential to become a skilled social worker. Deepesh urged the department of social work to conduct more activities for the youth and children at village level to create awareness about the profession. The event included a cultural programme followed by games and lunch.
