Scoring once in each half of play through striker Samson Miranda and medio Francisco Andrade, Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda registered a convincing 2-0 win against Sporting Club of Davorlim to enter the semifinals of Rising Cup, 2018 football tournament played at Cuncolim grounds on Friday.
Don Bosco Oratory, who played as a cohesive unit almost outplayed Davorlim in every department of the game with their quick passes and positional play for most part of the proceedings.
It was only in the last few minutes of the second session that Sporting Club of Davorlim imporved their match by a few notches and came close in finding the mark.
Earlier, Sporting Club lost some easy chances to find the mark as striker Paxton Gomes and Mack Borges just couldn’t get their act together to bulge the nets from close distance on counter forays.
Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda made their intentions known right from the start and the first indication to being goal hungry came off when striker Samson Miranda sped down the right flank in the fifth minute and unleashed a powerful shot which was collected by Davorlim keeper Ashitosh Shetye with some difficulty.
Soon came a great move when Don Bosco’s attacking medio Edgar Noronha took onto two rival defenders and on entering the box, passed the ball to Samson Miranda who shot it past the bewildered Davorlim keeper to take the lead. Davorlim stitched some good moves on counter forays but their strikers failed to find the mark.
The second session saw Don Bosco dominating the proceedings for the major part even though Davorlim tried to come back into the game with some long through passes, which went were wasted by their strikers.
Don Bosco buttressed their lead in the 55th minute when Edgar Noronha let go a powerful shot which Davorlim keeper Ashitosh parried away, but the ball fell as the feet of Francisco Andrade who just had to tap it in beyond the reach of helpless Davorlim keeper.
Don Bosco thereafter fell into the defence which saw Minguel Barretto and Roque Borges putting up a gallant show to deny any space for Davorlim strikers.
In the last few minutes of play, Davorlim sent some long rangers in an attempt to change the score, which proved to be futile.
Don Bosco Oratory’s Francisco Andrade won the man-of-the-match award for the day.
