Fall brings in the thought of autumn leaves and pumpkin spice lattes and warm comfy sweaters…and rich burgundy lipsticks!
This autumn, the regular fall lip colours are in – berries, burgundies, browns. However, strong eye looks were spread all over the catwalk, counterbalanced with nude lips.
This fall is also all about metallics! Matte is so last season. Whether it be a metallic lip or a sweep of metallic glitter over a cheekbone or brow bone, metallics are in.
Let’s check out what looks the runway brings us and how we can tweak it for our use!
The Vibe: Super metallic eye looks stood out with dewy perfect skin with a subtle flush of blush and nude satin lips.
Get the Look: To make this statement look wearable, apply a subtle wash of metallic eyeshadow all over the lids and a little under the lower lash liner. Add some mascara and some satin nude lipstick for a glamorous evening look.
The Vibe: Several makeup artists went with a lot colour for fall! Bright blues, pinks and yellows hit the runways with bright inner corner highlights and vivid eyeliners.
Get the Look: This look is definitely not for the faint of heart but you can make this look wearable even for the day time with a thin double liner of black and another colour. Or you could go with a turquoise kajal smudged into the lower lash line, which really makes the white of your eyes look brighter!
Lower false lashes and architectural eye liner
The Vibe: Statement false lashes on the lower lash line reminiscent of supermodel Twiggy from the 60’s. Floating eye liner hovered over several models’ eyes. Eye liner was drawn on the lid high above the actual lash line for a fabulous fashion statement.
Get the Look: A few subtle lower lashes can really accentuate the eyes. You could even draw in a few just at the outer lower corner for a feminine yet edgy effect. If you do wear this look, keep the rest of your look subtle with a neutral lip!
Monochromatic stained eyes and lip
The Vibe: A bright pink was smudge into the centre of the lips to create a Korean gradient lip. The same lipstick was smudge as an eyeshadow keeping the look monochromatic and pretty.
Get the Look: Apply a dot of concealer all over your lips and with a finger add a bit of lipstick to the centre of your lips. With a clean finger blend it outwards carefully so as not to blend completely to the edge of the lip. This look makes lips look smaller so if you already have small lips, this might be difficult.
Use the same colour eyeshadow as the lipstick to create a soft pink smoky eye. Finish off with mascara
Matte purple lip
The Vibe: Super matte skin complemented a super matte purple lip. Black kohl lined the waterlines of the models.
Get the Look: Don’t throw away your matte lipsticks just yet! Use a matte foundation and powder. This bright purple lip can be mattified further with a similar coloured blush. Use kohl to line both upper and lower waterlines to intensify your eyes. Curl your lashes and adds ome mascara.
Deep wine stained lips
The Vibe: Matte but glowing skin with nothing on the eyes and brushed brows created a spotlight on the deep wine lips by some of the models. The makeup artists skipped lip liner and perfect definition on the lips for a stained effect which looks brilliant!
Get the Look: For the lip, apply a deep berry or wine colour to the centre of your lip with a finger or apply with a brush and dab the edges to smudge it into the edges. This leaves a beautiful stained effect. I do think a bit of mascara would look good with this though. Pair up some mascara and very very subtle brown eyeliner smudged right into the roots of the lashes with this lip to pull off a super glamorous evening or daytime look if you’re bold enough to wear it!
Fall 2017 is overrun with different eye shadow looks with neutral lips and berry toned lips teamed up with perfect skin.
Don’t forget that makeup is fun and games and can be washed off at the end of the day, so play around this fall and take inspiration from the runway!
