Although Ananditaa Singh had a job in the film industry as a talent manager, acting was not something she had thought of pursuing. She felt that she was not confident enough. When she finally mustered up the courage to pursue acting, she found it to be of great interest. “Acting is not easy, it demands a lot. I never thought I would be at good at it. But with the support of family and friends I took up projects that came my way,” she says.
While the actress has worked in several web series, her work in Hindi web series ‘Bekaaboo’ directed by Akshay Choubey for Ekta Kapoors’ video on demand platform ALTBalaji has stood out. Speaking about the series and experience, Ananditaa says: “The series revolves around suspense, mystery and fantasies between man and woman. It has a strong message to give. I am glad that I was part of it. Ekta always believes in giving newcomers a chance and platform and working with her in my initial career days has been a great start for me.”
Singh has previously played the character of Jolene in the popular 2017 web series ‘Inside Edge’ which is based on a fictional T20 cricket team, and has stars like Vivek Oberoi, Richa Chadha, Siddhant Chaturvedi, Tanuj Virwani, and Angad Bedi. The series was nominated for Best Drama series at the 46th International Emmy Awards.
The actress also took up a short film ‘Grim Reaper’ directed by a Mexican director, Arturo Alanis Garza, which is gaining fame and popularity internationally. “There are three main people who are associated with this film, one is a Mexican director and the other two are from US and India. The short film is presently touring different film festivals, it will also come for film festivals in the country. After the film festival tour is complete, plans are on to convert it into a full-length feature film,” says Singh.
The actress who is presently in Goa for a music shoot also expressed her love for the state. “I am in Goa for the first time and my experience is quite wonderful. Goa has a different rhythm altogether. It is not like the rest of the places in the country. It is a vibrant place, full of joy and love. I am happy to be here,” says the actress.
Singh is now keen on focusing on films and theatre. “We are in talks for a film. At the moment I am not looking for web series. But, if a good web series, with a good plot and storyline comes to me, I will take it up,” she says.
