Goan technology startup Earnestek in association with CIBA, conducted a three-day hands-on workshop on Internet of Things (IoT) at Verna recently. The workshop was conducted by Earnestek co-founders, Vibhav Kharangate and Shravan Hegde. IOT is one of the biggest revolutions in the field of internet technology and automation through which any electronic device in the world can be monitored and controlled remotely over the internet. The technology is expected to have a huge impact on the way we live our lives.
Kharangate and Hegde who themselves were students just three years ago, feel that “workshops need not always be monotonous. We want to change that and ensure that people enjoy whatever they do at our workshops.”
Close to 30 students and professionals from different fields were part of the workshop. Participants learnt how to control different electronic devices from anywhere in the world by just using their mobile phone. They were divided into smaller groups and they were given the task of coming up with their own ideas and implementing them. The event was a huge success and all the participants were pro-active and enthusiastic about it.
Isha Pai Panandiker, third year student of GEC, said, “This was the best workshop I ever attended. We never got bored once! This is the first workshop I have attended on Sunday without grumbling about it.” Hemant Kumar Bankhede, a senior scientist at a pharma company, said, “This was an amazingly executed workshop. The friendly facilitators and enthusiastic participants made this workshop a successful one. It was truly learning with fun event as we got an opportunity to make a team based mini project during the workshop. Learned a lot of IOT and applications areas.”
