Goan Warriors trounce Guirim YCSC

MAPUSA: Goan Warriors FC trounced Guirim YCSC by 4-0 margin in the GFA’s 3rd Division League Bardez Zone, at Duler stadium, here on Tuesday. Goan Warriors scored two goals in each session of play. In the 20th and 35th minute Saish Goltekar netted a brace through a header and a superb curling strike, 2-0. On crossing ends, Goan Warriors further pumped in two more goals through Manjunath who scored from a neat placement and a strike from close.

Wilred Leisure beat Chinchinim Villagers 4-2

MARGAO: Wilred Leisure SC entered the quarterfinals of Telaulim Panchayat Cup football tournament defeating Union of Chinchinim Villagers 4-2, at Telaulim panchayat grounds, Tuesday. Wilred Leisure began to attack right from the start and went into the lead in the very 6th minute of play through Jamson Noronha. Thereafter, Wilred Leisure were all over the rival territory, during which time, striker Sertorio Monteiro scored a fine brace of goals in the 24th and 56th minute of play, while Casmiro Fernandes added his name to the scorers list with an angular effort in the 64th minute. Union of Chinchinim Villagers pulled two goals back through Jess Fernandes (65th minute) and Sunny Souza (67th minute).

Sirlim SC’s U-16 football trials

MARGAO: Sirlim Sports Club will hold their U-16 football team at CRC Chinchinim grounds, trials on October 2 and 3. Players born on or after January 1, 2000 are eligible. Interested players are requested to contact Oscar da Costa with original birth certificate and playing kit at the venue.

Suyash to lead Goa in U-19 Vinoo Mankad trophy

PANAJI: Suyash Prabhudessai has been named as the captain of the Goa U-19 cricket team that will participate in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy one-day tournament, to be held in Kerala from October 1 to 12. Team: Suyash Prabhudessai (captain), Ishan Gadekar, Vedant Naik, Deepraj Gaonkar, Kashyap Bakhle, Neeraj Yadav, Heramb Parab, Maruti Huggi, Rohit Naik, Tunish Sawkar, Savio Kalco, Somesh Prabhudessai, Vaibhav Govekar, Aditya Suryavanshi and Kaustub Naik. Doubles carrom tournament at St Andre

PANAJI: Friends Circle of St Andre will be organising their first doubles carrom tournament from October 5 at Nitins restaurant, Mascarenhas Vaddo, Goa-Velha. Only players from St Andre constituency are allowed to participate. Cash prizes will be awarded to the winners, runners-up and semifinalists.
