Dempo SC storm into DSK Cup finals

PANAJI: Dempo SC stormed into the finals of DSK Invitational football tournament, organised by DSK Shivajians, as they thrashed Gangtok Himalayan FC 3-0 in the second semifinals played in Pune, on Friday. The Golden Eagles scored through Aniston Fernandes, Milagres Gonsalves and Beevan D’Mello. Dempo SC will take on hosts DSK Shivajians in the finals slated for November 1.

Kingsley hat-trick sinks Curtorim Gymkhana

MARGAO: A fine hat-trick by Kingsley Fernandes and a goal by London Singh helped Vasco SC down Curtorim Gymkhana 4-2 in the GFA U-20 Taca Goa football league, at Cansaulim grounds on Friday. Kingsley completed his hat-trick scoring in the 21st, 33rd and 55th minute. Curtorim Gymkhana reduced the margin through C Araujo and Ladson Fernandes.

Paroda make it to Varca Panchayat Cup semis

MARGAO: ICSC Paroda entered the semifinals of Varca Panchayat Cup defeating St Anthony’s SC, Colva 3-1, at Varca grounds on Friday. Sezvin, Manish and Micky scored for Paroda while Max pulled one goal back for the Colva team.

GTTA’s inter championship from Nov 9

PANAJI: The Goa table Tennis Association (GTTA) will be conducting the Inter Championship of all boards on November 9 and 10 at the Indoor stadium, Campal. The state winning team will participate in the national inter school championship in Indore on December 9 and 10. The team championship will be conducted in the following categories: boys and girls from class 5 to 7 and boys and girls from class 8 to 10. The championship is being organised in collaboration with the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs (DSYA). Entries should be submitted to Vishnu Kolwalkar before November 7.

Volleyball selection trials

PANAJI: The Goa Volleyball Association (GVA) will hold the selection trials for men and women to select  players for pre-national volleyball coaching camp to participate in the 64th Senior National Volleyball Championship for men and women which will be held from January 2 to 10 in Bangalore. The selection trials will be held on November 2 at Masam De Amorim, Panaji at 3 pm. Selection trials for boys and girls to select the players for pre-national volleyball camp will be held on October 31 at 3 pm at Masam De Amorim to participate in the 38th Sub Junior National Volleyball Championship for boys and girls. Players born on or after January 1, 2000 should come with their birth certificates in original and report to coach Rama Dhawaskar. Double crown for Damodar HSS in tug of war

PANAJI: Damodar HSS Gudi-Paroda bagged double crown and emerged champs of the Quepem Taluka Tug of War Zone IV tournament, organised by Directorate of Sports & Youth Affairs (DSYA) at Borimol Sports Complex ground,  Quepem. In the boys section  final Damodar HSS defeated Shiroda HSS 2-0. In the girls section, Damodar HSS emerged champs beating Pope John XXIII HSS of Quepem.

Softball selection trials

PANAJI: Trials to select probables for Goa softball teams, both boys and girls, will be conducted on Sunday, November 1 at Campal ground, Panaji and at Butebahat ground, Baina Vasco from 3 pm. The Goa sub junior softball teams are due to participate in the Sub Junior National Softball Championship to be held at Aurangabad, Maharashtra from November 18 to 22. The selected probables will undergo 15 days’ training camp from November 2 between 3 pm to 6 pm every day. Interested players born on after January 1, 2000 may report to NIS softball ball coach Pranoy Polge at Butebhat ground, Baina-Vasco and Jagdish Vargaonkar at Campal ground at 3 pm along with copy of birth certificate on the specified date and time.
