PVC Parra storm into finals

CHAPORA: PVC Parra registered a 3-0 win over Friends XI Vaddem to enter the finals of the Anjuna Caisua Village Panchayat Soccer Cup, organised by Chapora YS, played at Chapora, on Friday. Parra scored two quick goals in the first session. In the 15th minute Mandrekar scored through a right footer, while in the 21st minute Atish Mirajkar’s strike from outside the penalty box made it 2-0 for PVC Parra. On resumption of play, in the 47th minute Vaddem’s Steven D’Souza handled the ball inside the penalty box, giving Parra’s Jeston D’Souza an opportunity to make it 3-0. Parra will take on Milagres in the finals slated on August 27 2016.

St Anthony’s Colva in summit clash

CHINCHINIM: St Anthony’s SC, Colva entered the finals of CRC-Chinchinim-Deussua Panchayat Cup football tournament defeating Ambelim SC, 3-2, played at Church grounds, Chinchinim on Friday. StAnthony’s SC, Colva scored through  Romario Fernandes,(30th minute),Baptist Fernandes (42nd minute) and Kieth Rodrigues(45th minute). Ambelim SC scored through Richard Fernandes  and Raymond Fernandes. St Anthony’s SC, Colva will now meet Rossman SC, Nagoa-Verna in the finals to be held on August 28th. NT

Tanisi to represent India

BAMBOLIM: Tanisi Kirtani has been selected to represent the Indian TT team at the 11th Fajr Junior Cup to be held at Qazvin, Iran from August 27. The tournament will be considered for global ranking, says a press release.

St Anthony’s HS Duler win

MOIRA: St Anthony’s HS Duler registered a solitary goal win over St Thereza HS Candolim to enter the semis of the Bardez Taluka U14 Football Tournament, organized by DYSA, played at Moira ground, on Friday. The all important goal came from the boots of substitute Sagar Prabhu in the dying minutes of the second session. Candolim’s Altaf Hussain failed to score from the penalty spot. In the last quarter final match St Britto’s HS Mapusa registered a 2-0 win over Dona Leonar HS Porvorim.  Pravin Gupta and Shawn Vessaokar scored for the Mapusa school.

Tilamola United hammer Macazana

ASSOLNA: Tilamola United defeated Macazana WA, 4-1, in the GFA U-14 football tournament played at Assolna grounds on Friday. Aggie D’Costa and Josmon Fernandes scored a brilliant brace of goals ,each for Tilamola United.While Aggie found the mark in the 34th and 64thminute,Josmon scored in the 35th and 55th minute. Aloysius Costa pulled one goal back for Macazana. NT

U-19, U-21 snooker tourney

PANAJI: Billiards and Snooker Association of Goa will be conducting selection/ranking tournaments in sub junior snooker (under 19) and junior snooker (under 21) categories to select the teams to be sent for the 42nd Sub Juniors and 13th Juniors Snooker National Tournaments to be held in Maharashtra. RCC Fatorda stand first

FATORDA: RCC Fatorda secured first place at 25th State Junior Taekwondo Championship, organised by Taekwondo Association of Goa, held at PJN Indoor Stadium Fatorda recently. RCC Ponda stood second while Taekwondo Academy of Vasco claimed third place.

Sportsweek Club felicitate players

MARGAO: Sportsweek Cricket Club felicitated its players for winning the B Div Championship last season. In a function the President of Sportsweek Bhai Naik sponsored and gave away T shirts and Track pants to all players and team management for excellent show. Sportsweek has last won the GCA ‘A’ Div tournament in 2007. Aditya Angle, Advait Katkar, Damodar Redkar, Suraj Dongre and Ashish Patnekar are  players who  represented Goa in Ranji after having played for this club. Sportweek will play in the A division next year.

TALEIGAO: (1st match) Government College, Sanquelim defeated Ganpat Parsekar College, Harmal by 8-0. Darryl Fernandes, Suraj Kauthankar, Uddesh Gawas, Mohammad Khan, Bhupesh Kamat, Tarang Khan, Rushab Gaonkar and Mudatsir Shah scored one each for the winners. (2nd match) Agnel Institute, Assagao defeated MES College, Zuarinagar by 1-0. Loyd Faria  scored the match winner for Agnel Institute, Assagao.

Ainesh to meet Vedant in U-10 boys finals

FATORDA: Ainesh Srivastava will meet Vedant Chauhan in the U-10 boys singles finals while Rudra Dukle will clash with Aashutosh Dhavalikar in the finals of the boys U-13 category, at the Late Rasik Painginkar Memorial Badminton Ranking Tournament, played at Multipurpose hall, Fatorda. The U-15 girls finals will be contested between Yasmin Sayed and Lydia Barreto while Arshia Gautam will clash with Siya Kakodkar  in Girls U- 13 singles finals.  Semis Results: (U-10 boys) Ainesh Srivastava bt Sarvadnya Khandeparkar 21-12, 21-6 ; Vedant Chauhan bt Yash Desai 21-10, 21-16. Audi, Aston, Reuben and Madhavan win

CANACONA: Audi Ameya won the  All Goa Open Under 17 State Chess Championship, organised by the Canacona Taluka Chess at Chaudi Canacona.Audi remained undefeated with 5.5 points out of 6 rounds .The second to fifth place was bagged by Aston Dias (5),Reuben Colaco(5),
G Madhavan(4.5) and Ian Rodrigues (4.5).
