Taleigao: The Goan players had a mixed outing on Day 3 of the 2nd Goa International Open Grandmaster Chess Tournament, being played at Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Indoor Stadium at Taleigao, as GM Anurag Mhamal, FM Nitish Belurkar and Ritviz Parab were all held to a draw while Niraj Saripalli was the only local who managed to script a victory, in their respective Round 4 encounters on Thursday.
While Anurag played out a draw against CM Rohit Krishna (2347) to be on three points, Nitish – despite playing an attacking game – was held to a draw by Hari Madhavan. Nitish is now on 2.5 points. Nandini Saripalli, Leon Mendonca and Devesh Naik conceded defeats in their respective encounters.
After the end of Round 4, Nandini, Ritviz, Leon and Niraj are on two points each while Devesh Naik is on 1.5 points.
Meanwhile at the end of Round 7 in Category B, Goa’s Paarth Salvi moved on to five points to be on 59th position while Ayush Pednekar, Anirudh Parsekar, Reuban Colaco and Ethan Vaz are on 4.5 points each. Sairaj Vernekar, WCM Gunjal Chopdekar, Tanvi Hadkonkar, Saish Fondekar, Sachin Gaude, Pradip Mandar and PM Kantak are on 4 points each.
