Now, learn the sarangi

Sanjeevan Music Academy, an initiative by Swastik Cultural Association recently completed 10 months.  Apart from conducting training in Indian classical and light classical music, the Academy will now start training in the learning of sarangi in a bid to revive this tranquil instrument which is slowly dying out. Goa used to be privileged to have numerous sarangi players but sadly today Goa does not have a single sarangi player.

Further, the Academy also plans to offer a scholarship which will be made available to those aspirants who wish to be professional sarangi players. Anish Mishra from Banaras, a disciple of sarangi player Kanhaiyalal Mishra (Professor of sarangi at Banaras Hindu University) has been appointed to join as a permanent faculty at Sanjeevan Music Academy.
