The closing of the 11th Goa Marathi Film Festival (GMFF) will be marked by the grand world premiere of the Marathi film ‘Savita Damodar Paranjape’ directed by Swapna Waghmare Joshi on June 10 at 8 p.m. at Kala Academy, Panaji. The film has been produced in collaboration with film actor John Abraham who makes his debut in Marathi films as a producer. Speaking at a press conference ahead of the premiere of this film director of the film Swapna Waghmare Joshi spoke about John being a supportive producer. “During the film shoot John encouraged the cast to take their own decisions but also provided timely suggestions and was never pushy,” said Swapna. She announced that the film in India will release on August 31. Also present were film personalities of Marathi cinema, Subodh Bhave, Rakesh Bapat, Trupti Toradmal and Swapnil Bandodkar who spoke about their experience of working on this film.
The plot of the film revolves around a married couple and their life which turns upside down when the wife starts showing a sudden desire and lust for intimate relationships. During these outbursts, she calls herself ‘Savita Damodar Paranjape’. The film also goes onto show the effects of Multiple Personality Disorder. “A psychological thriller, it is an adaptation of a popular play of the same name,” said Swapna.
