Museum of Goa (MOG) is organising a talk on the topic of ‘The Social in the Act of Reading’ by director of the Bookworm Trust, Sujata Noronha on June 30, 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Museum of Goa, Pilerne. The event has been curated by Subodh Kerkar.
Reading is often imagined as a solitary activity in an atmosphere of quiet.
However the act of reading is perhaps one of the most socially volatile acts of the mind that compel conversations, sharing, argument, discussion and expression. Through the work of a small independent trust, Bookworm has been journeying through Goa and beyond inciting social acts of reading as a way to a more humane engagement.
Sujata Noronha, who directs the work of Bookworm, has an MPhil in education from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences and is a literacy educator. She will present the myriad ways in which a journey with reading can become a powerful social tool and an act of joy.
