Sporting Club of Davorlim entered the semifinals of 30th Super Soccer defeating Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda 4-3 via tie breaker in an exciting quarterfinal match played at St John, the Baptist grounds, Benaulim on Wednesday.

The teams played a 1-1 draw during the regulation time.

It was DBO, Fatorda who took the lead in the 3rd minute when attacking medio Edgar Noronha took the Davorlim team by surprise, as he ran down the right flank and unleashed a powerful shot that gave no chance at all to the Davorlim keeper Selito Miranda, who otherwise had a good day under the bar.

SC Davorlim took time to settle down, but gradually began to create forays as they moved meticulously using both the flanks. They made several goal-bound forays after going into the arrears but the defence of DBO, Fatorda stood its ground firm. Their keeper Switzel Pereira did well to foil the attempts made by Agnelo Colaco and Robinson Colaco midway into the first session.

The second session saw SC Davorlim going all out for the kill, and their efforts finally bore fruits in the 47th minute when medio Valmiky Faleiro split the rival defence with a through-pass and as the ball went to Perryson Rebello, he lost no time in slamming it in.

Thereafter, SC Davorlim were seen all over the rival territory as Micky Furtado and Josemack Colaco did a lot of overlapping work to put pressure on rival defence.

DBO Fatorda keeper Swizel Pereira once again rose to the occasion in the second half as he made some spectacular saves.

DBO Fatorda defence comprising Roque Borges and others gave good account of themselves as they foiled all the attempts made by the rival team.

DBO Fatorda had their chances as well, but their forwards on some occasions kept the ball far too long and on other failed to find the mark even from inside the box.

In the last ten minutes of the game, SC Davorlim keeper made three saves when DBO Fatorda’s Cliff Barretto and Edgar Noronha tried to score from close distance.

As the teams were involved in a 1-1 draw, the tie-breaker system had to be adopted wherein Sporting Club of Davorlim proved to be better shooters, scoring accurately through William Niasso, Valmiky Miranda and Venson Figueredo, while for Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda only Ashley Andrade and Alfred Noronha could be on target.
