The Science Film Festival of India is set to embark on its 4th edition from January 16 to 19 at the ESG complex, Panaji. The festival is organised by Vidnyan Parishad in association with Department of Science & Technology, Govt. of Goa, National Institute of Oceanography, Entertainment Society of Goa and Vidyan Prasar.
In the run up to the festival, students from educational institutes around Goa got a chance to interact with scientists visits. Films/documentaries based on science were also screened
Chowgule College of Arts & Science, Gogol, Purshottam Wallavalkar High School, Mapusa, and Mount Litera Zee school, Vasco, were the 25th, 50th and 75th institutes respectively to witness this pre event activity, and these milestones were celebrated.
The 100th institute was Matoshri Indirabai Baburao Khandeparkar High School and the milestone was also celebrated with forum on science. As the school is a part of the Goa Vidyaprasarak Mandal (GVM) management, students from five other GVM institutes also attended the event.
The chief guest for the function was Director, National Institute of Technology, Goa, Gopal Mugeraya while Principal, Don Bosco College of Engineering was the guest of honour. Associate Professor, Biological Sciences at BITS-Pilani, Goa campus, Anasuya Ganguly, was the resource person who engaged the students with a short science based film and an interactive session.
