Shree Shantadurga Cultural and Sports Club Varkhand, Pernem in collaboration with Goa Medical College Bambolim and Lupin Foundation organised a blood donation camp at Shantadurga Club building at Varkhand. The chief guest Pradeep Kambli, sarpanch of Varkhand, Nagzar lit the traditional lamp. The other dignitaries were president of the club, Francis Fernandes, Anand Parab and doctor Clare D’Mello. In her speech Clare said that blood is precious and those who are donating blood are life savers for unknown people and this is one good social activity. The sarpanch in his speech appreciated the activities of club. Ramakant Parab, Rupesh Parab, Gurudas Parab, Rajat Parab, Ramaji Parab helped to organise the said camp.
Under the aegis of Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs the club also organised a one day workshop on women empowerment at Government HSS, Pernem. Sarpanch Pradeep Kambli inaugurated the function along with the principal Subhas Mandrekar; president, Anand Parab; Lisette Camra; physical education teacher, Vivek Pednekar; resource person, Pravin Sabnis and former president of the club, Sameer Daware.
The chief guest in his speech stated that such types of programmes should be held in village areas so as to create awareness at grass-root level too. The resource persons Pravin Sabnis and Caroline Steward spoke to 102 girls who came from different higher secondary schools in Pernem. Certificates were given to all participants.
