State to have staff selection commission

Panaji: The government will soon set up state staff selection commission to streamline recruitment of its lower grade staff, and bring transparency in the process.

Coming out with this information in the state legislative assembly, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant stated that the Goa Public Service Commission uses computer based recruitment test (CBRT) to select Class A and Class B officials for the state administration.

“However, we don’t have single mechanism to select lower grade government staff,” he observed, adding that the process to set up the state staff selection commission was initiated by the state government, in the past, and the commission should have been in place by now.

Sawant also said that for recruiting lower grade staff in government service, the departments seek help from various sources like the Goa University, the Goa Education Development Corporation, Polytechnics and so on, for conducting written tests.

“However, if skill of the candidates is to be tested then the departments do it themselves,” he noted.
