Students need to embrace new technology, skills: Lolayekar

PANAJI: Director of Higher Education Prasad Lolayekar has advised the students to embrace new technology and adopt skills required by the industry to get better jobs in the changing business scenario.

He was speaking as a chief guest at installation function of newly-elected Student Council of Dnyanprassarak Mandal’s College and Research Centre, Assagao. Explaining how the job market based on old technology was shrinking and new technology has opened up fresh employment opportunities, Lolayekar said that students have to acquire new skills required by the corporate world and remain competitive. He said that opportunities are aplenty not only to make themselves employable but to make others employable by venturing into the area of entrepreneurship.

Giving an example, Lolayekar motivated the students to shape themselves by focusing on bringing about a change in the personality by inculcating leadership qualities.

Emphasising that primary education in mother tongue has great bearing on understanding of concepts, he urged the students to motivate themselves to take giant leap in their field. Stressing on the need to swim against current, the director said that targets can be achieved by taking up challenges.

“To understand the things before you from right perspective, you have to go at a distance and focus on the reality from the top to see the entire landscape and learn from it,” he added.

Principal of the College, Dr D Arolkar said that college is excelling in various spheres of higher education with 79th rank for the college in India Today ranking, which reflects the commitment of the institution to provide better education to the students. He advised the student council to work for bringing about a qualitative change at the learning place.

Chairman of the Dnyanprassarak Mandal’s College, Shrikrishna Pokle spoke on the occasion. Vice principal Rashmi Redkar introduced the chief guest.

Chairman of the Students Council, Dr Parvez Shaikh administered oath of office to the general secretary of the student’s council Prajat Bhosle.

Bhosle proposed the vote of thanks. The function was compered by students Bhgayashri Khedekar and Nidhi Banaulicar.
