PANAJI: Goa police has claimed that adequate security arrangements are in place at the border check posts in view of the assembly elections to be held in Maharashtra on October 15.
“Measures have already been taken at the borders check posts adjoining Maharashtra state. Vehicles are being thoroughly checked for any illegal transport of liquor or money and even anti-social elements,” said DIG K K Vyas.
Vyas further said, “In view of the elections, a coordination meeting was held wherein various issues related to security measures were discussed.”
It may be recalled that earlier this month, the Maharashtra police had held a coordination meeting with the Goa police in order to strengthen borders adjoining the state, in view of the assembly elections in the neighbouring state.
According to information, the meeting was held in order to have better coordination between the interstate police so as to keep a check on any kind of illegal activity during the elections.
Police officials said that a vigil is being kept at the state borders in order to keep a check on the flow of money and also liquor. Police officials are also keeping a watch on anti-social elements.
