Panaji: Panaji police have arrested two more persons in connection with the Taleigao attack case. The alleged accused have been identified as Yash alias Dhanajay Chari and Dattaprasad alias Datta Chari, both from St Inez.
Earlier, the police had arrested Dipesh Gawas and Gavresh Bandodkar, both Nagali-Taleigao residents, in the attempt to murder case. It may be recalled that on Sunday night at Nagali-Taleigao, a group of eight persons, four of them wearing mask, had allegedly assaulted Eknath Gauns and Yuvnath Kuttikar.
After being alerted about the attack, Yuvnath’s brother Krishna along with his friend Dilip Kankonkar had set out on a two-wheeler to track down the alleged accused. Upon reaching Ribandar, they spotted the four alleged accused Jack, Kamlesh, Manish and Gavresh.
Police said that the four accused allegedly assaulted Krishna and Dilip reportedly with a sword (later revealed to be a koita) and stones during which Krishna’s wrist was chopped off. Krishna later succumbed while undergoing treatment at GMC hospital.
Earlier, in the second case, an FIR was registered by the Old Goa police for attempt to murder and later murder charge was added under IPC section 302. In this case, the police had arrested three of the alleged accused Jack Oliveira, Kamlesh Kundaikar, both residents of Nagali-Taleigao and Manish Hadfadkar, from Chorao. As per police information, Jack and Kamlesh are drivers by profession and have criminal background and were earlier arrested by Old Goa police in connection with an alleged attempt to murder case in 2017. Police said that Jack was also involved in an alleged robbery case registered at Panaji police station.
