Waste management: MPT conducts awareness programme

VASCO: As part of the ‘Swachchta Hi Seva Campaign- 2018’ which is commenced on September 15, the Mormugao Port Trust (MPT) conducted an awareness programme for its employees on the management of waste and composting of biodegradable waste generated at home and in residential colonies as well as port run canteens on Thursday. The programme was coordinated by the Medical department, under the guidance of the Chief Medical Officer MPT Hospital Dr Nimish Pillai

Clinton Vaz, an expert in the field of re-cycling of wastes in Goa who runs a garbage disposal unit recycle in South Goa was the resource person.

The programme was earlier inaugurated by deputy conservator MPT Capt Manoj Joshi.

In his brief address, Capt Joshi stressed on the importance of cleanliness and protecting the environment. The Dr Pillai welcomed the resource person and the participants.

The medical officer Dr Hema Mayekar compered the function, while nursing superintendent Suhasini Kolambkar proposed the vote of thanks.
