YUVA in association with the Directorate of Art and Culture organised a three-day Christmas programme ‘XMAS 2018’.
The event had various activities like crib presentation, star display, talent presentation and dance performances. More than 400 children participated in the event.
On the occasion founder of YUVA, Raghuvir Mahale spoke about the journey of YUVA in the last six years. He highlighted the hard work and YUVA’s achievement of having been awarded the National Award for being Best Youth Organisation and thanked those responsible for the success.
President of YUVA, Aakash Khaunte addressed the gathering and said he would work hard to take the organisation to the next level with activities and upcoming projects. He also requested people to support YUVA and its members in upcoming activities.
Speaking at the event minister for Art and Culture, Govind Gaude congratulated YUVA for its performance in a short span of time and making Goa proud by winning the National Award. He expressed his happiness over YUVA’s work and said he would be there whenever YUVA needs help or assistance. He appreciated members for working towards the betterment of society and recited a Marathi poem to motivate youth, and advised them to overcome negative thoughts and with positive energy to achieve excellence.
The event also saw the launch of the YUVA app for android phones. The app was launched at the hands of Gaude. The app provides emergency and necessary contacts for blood donors, hospitals, pharmacies, restaurants, snake catchers, etc.
YUVA also felicitated Achievers of Mala for excellence in various fields. Rajan Kunkolienkar (medicine), Avdhut alias Bharat Agshikar (education), Sunanda Amonkar (medicine), Brahmakumari Shobha Behen (spiritual education), Sharmila Prabhu (commerce), Menino Da Cruz (social worker), Ashok Patil (entrepreneur), Rozario Estibeiro (photography), Shyam Bhandare (medicine) and Nilesh Amonkar (entrepreneur) were nominated for the felicitation programme this year.
