In the matter of dumping of garbage on the Campal ground at Panaji, the High Court of Bombay at Goa has ordered CCP commissioner to remain present before it on June 16.

The GSPCB has also assured the High Court that it will issue necessary directions to CCP to clear the dumped garbage. Taking a dig at CCP, the High Court observed that CCP has converted the parade ground into a dumping ground.

It may be noted that the court had issued notices to the CCP and other authorities over garbage on the ground in the capital city stating that the garbage is “likely to prove a source for ailments like dengue and malaria”.

Meanwhile, the High Court of Bombay at Goa on Friday observed that if Corporation of City of Panaji is satisfied that the ward committees have to be constituted in terms of Section 41 of the City of Panaji Corporation Act, 2002, then, on June 16, 2020, statement to be made on behalf of CCP as to the timeline within which, there will be compliance of the provisions of Section 41 of the City of Panaji Corporation Act, 2002.

The Court directions came after hearing a petition filed by advocate Aires Rodrigues over the failure of the Corporation of City of Panaji to constitute the ward committees as required by law. The matter will now be heard on June 16.
