Godrej Appliances encourages store owners to do digital sales

Consumer durables brand, Godrej Appliances is helping its offline retailers to reach customers digitally during the ongoing pandemic. The company is trying to make its retailers be present online through Google My Business and also creating a Facebook profile. The online initiative for physical store owners is due to social distancing entailed by the pandemic. It is aimed at improving business overall for small stores.

The brand is targeted each of its 25000 offline retailers to have a Facebook business page by end of June, with 2,300 already on board. The FB page is helpful to customers as it allows them access product information and purchase online from their familiar local retailers. All the Godrej exclusive brand outlets and bulk of the preferred retailer partners and Godrej green AC hubs have already been made live on Facebook with their shop pages. This allows them to link up with consumers through WhatsApp also to discuss, negotiate and conclude the sale.

The company is made arrangements to help consumers buy appliances without having to step out of the comfort of their homes through the new video-assisted remote selling initiative. The initiative is already seeing signs of acceptance. Under this initiative, customers are being provided the option of a scheduled live demo via video call by the brand’s store-based advisors followed by flexible payment options as per the customer’s preference. 

Kamal Nandi, business head and executive vice president, Godrej Appliances, said, “The trade partners are an important spoke of our ecosystem. We believe digital will be the way forward and that through these initiatives we will empower them to step up in the new normal. It will establish a new way of selling and will also drive more efficiencies in the entire ecosystem in the long run.”

Another important initiative by Godrej Appliances is to reach out to the large sales network and use this lockdown effectively by training them on the product front. The brand has been training the entire sales staff, store promoter staff and trade partners actively during the lockdown.
