Amidst the row over the disbursement of salary to the school staff, the Congress party after deliberations with experts and members of the party’s educational cell has offered a solution to the government to resolve the issue.
Goa Pradesh Congress Committee president Girish Chodankar, on Saturday, urged the Chief Minister to ask the directorate of education (DoE) to release an amount equal to the salary paid in June 2020 to each school, and in turn allow the schools to prepare the bill and pay the salary for the month of July 2020.
“The arrears if any on account of the release of annual increments payable in the month of July 2020, can be paid along with regular salary for the month of August 2020 with necessary adjustments,” the Congress president said.
It is pertinent to note that DoE had asked the managements of the schools around the state to disburse the salary of their respective staff members, for the current month, from their own funds.
This was done as the staff of the directorate in charge of disbursing the said salary has been home quarantined, following one of the staff members testing positive for COVID-19.
However, after being criticized for the same on social media the particular circular was withdrawn by DoE the very next day.
Chodankar claimed that a simple order from the Director of Education in supersession to the earlier orders can suffice to resolve the issue in the best interest of all concerned.
“This will be the ideal solution to the department as well as the management in these critical times of COVID pandemic,” he said.
