Man rescued from 25-feet-deep well at Colvale


Mapusa : After struggling for over four hours, a police constable who had fallen into a well was rescued by Mapusa fire personnel on Sunday morning at Mushirwaddo in Colvale. The constable had fallen into the well which was 20-25 feet deep after meeting with an accident. The well was located close to the road.

According to Mapusa fire station a police constable identified as

Swapnil Gawas, 29 attached to the Old Goa police station was travelling towards Ozari in Pernem Taluka on his Pulsar motorbike. He met with an accident, lost his balance and fell into a roadside well at around 5 am.

 The policeman was blowing his whistle to get some help and finally at around 9.20 am a local noticed him and informed the fire department and the police.

Accordingly a team of fire personnel led by Dyaneshwar Sawant, sub-officer along with leading fire fighter Suraj Shetgaonkar, fire fighters Suraj Karapurkar, Girish Gawas and Nitin Chodankar rushed to the spot. 

By using a rope and a ladder the man was rescued from the well with minor injuries.
