Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Thursday said the government will provide water connections to all households by the end of this year.
The announcement came after Sawant attended a video conferencing meeting on Thursday, which was chaired by Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and Minister of State for Jal Shakti Rattan Lal Kataria.
At the meeting, Sawant reiterated Goa’s commitment to provide regular supply of safe drinking water and “100 per cent water connections” to all Goan households by 2020-end.
A meeting had been recently chaired by the Union secretary for drinking water and sanitation, where the state had presented its annual action plan for 2020-21.
Chief Secretary Parimal Rai had assured the Centre of providing 100 per cent water connections by 2021.
Launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2019, the Jal Jeevan Mission aims at ensuring regular supply of adequate drinking water to every rural household.
The Jal Shakti ministry has been working closely with states and Union territories to achieve the mission’s objectives.
