Goa tightened their grip over Madhya Pradesh on the second day of their Ranji Trophy match as they reduced the visitors to 181 for seven at stumps at the GCA Academy Ground here on Sunday.
Replying to Goa’s first-innings total of 284, Madhya Pradesh still trail by 103 runs with three wickets in hand.
Vasuki Koushik led Goa’s attack with a disciplined spell of 3 for 33, while Arjun Tendulkar (2/34) and Lalit Yadav (2/22) kept the pressure on throughout the day. Madhya Pradesh were reeling at 39 for 4 by lunch as Koushik and Tendulkar struck in tandem.
Rishabh Chauhan (43) and Saransh Jain (48) steadied the innings with a 57-run stand for the sixth wicket before Lalit Yadav dismissed both to tilt the balance firmly in Goa’s favour. At stumps, Aryan Pandey (21 batting) and Arshad Khan (15 batting) were holding fort for the visitors. With the pitch offering some movement and uneven bounce, Goa will look to wrap up the innings early on Day 3 and press home the advantage.
