With Kala Academy celebrating 50 years of promoting Goa’s rich culture, plans are on to commemorate the golden jubilee on a grand scale.
Addressing a press conference, Minister for Art and Culture, Government of Goa and chairman of Kala Academy, Govind Gaude said that to mark the occasion, the general council under the chairmanship of Gaude has decided to host various cultural programmes and activities throughout the year. Additionally, around 6000 artistes will be participating in various art forms at regional and national level.
The inaugural programme of the golden jubilee celebration will be held on July 15 at 5:30 p.m. at Dinanath Mangeshkar Kala Mandir. The programme will be inaugurated by Chief Minister, Pramod Sawant and presided over by Gaude.
The inaugural function will be followed by a presentation of the ‘Kala Tarang’, a special programme depicting the artistic journey of Kala Academy over the course of 50 years through an amalgamation of live performances, songs, folk presentations and video clips. The programme was conceptualised and scripted by Prakash Vazrikar and Purnanand Chari, and will be coordinated by council member, Bhalchandra Usgaonkar.
The next programme, ‘Purva Rang’ will see noted performance groups showcasing Goan folk arts and will be co-ordinated by Ajay Naik and Pournima Kerkar.
Hemu Gaude and group will present the Goan traditional folk performances of ghode modni, goff, jagor, and yaman. Avinash Gaude and group will present veerbhadra, musal nrutya, samai and naman. Divya Naik and group will present haldichi geeta, ovyo, dhalo and dindi. Shubhada Chari and group will present davlimand. Dattaram Sawnat and group will present morulo. Shubham Naik and group will present samuha vadan. Twinkle Mainkar and group will present fugdi. Cosma Fernandes and group will present mando, dhulpada and noyana.
