Cutbona murder: two remanded to six days police custody

MARGAO: The two youth, Santosh Bagh (20) and Dhaneeshwar Bagh (20), arrested by the Cuncolim police in connection with the murder of their friend, Prasad Singh Lakhar (25), on a trawler, which was berthed at the Cutbona jetty, were produced before judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) Margao; the two have been remanded to six days police custody.

The two were arrested by Cuncolim police while they were moving in Velim. A knife was used to commit the murder on Friday night, said the police, adding both the accused were taken to the site of murder.

The police said that the three had a drink and were having a discussion on the trawler on Friday night.

The police said that during the discussion, under the influence of liquor, one of the accused passed some remark against the deceased.

“There were exchange of words and heated arguments, and in a fit of anger one of the accused Santosh  removed  a knife  and attacked the deceased on his neck causing him serious injuries. Later, two of them fled the spot,  however, on Saturday morning they were caught and lodged in the custody,” the police said.

The police have registered offence under section 302 of the IPC against Santosh and Dhaneeshwar.
