DBC holds poll check workshop

Google News Initiative and Data Leads in collaboration with Don Bosco College, Panaji organised a one-day poll check workshop for journalists covering India’s upcoming elections. The workshop comprised three different segments regarding the elections.

The first session was conducted by journalist, Nupur Sonar on the topic ‘YouTube for Election Coverage’ and covered important and trending features of YouTube Live. “YouTube Live is an authenticate feature that connects communities which conveys the pulse of the news to the masses,” she said.

Sonar covered the aspect of ‘Digital Safety Training for Journalists’ wherein she spoke about the security of various social media accounts as well as browsing the web safely.

The last session was on ‘Verification and Fact-Checking’ which highlighted the fact that all the news and information uploaded on the internet or on various social media platforms is not always authentic or true.

The workshop was attended by 40 participants among whom were journalists as well as journalism students.
