Guirdolim SC have it easy against Raia SC

Nuvem: Riding on a fine brace by attacking medio Sadiq Sheikh and a goal each by Jeston Martins and Mario Fernandes, Guirdolim SC registered a convincing 4-1 win against Raia SC to move into the quarterfinals of Nuvem Parish Cup football tournament, at church grounds, Nuvem on Monday.

Playing attacking game in both the sessions, Guirdolim SC went into the lead in the 19th minute through a goal scored by Jeston Martins, whose angular effort gave no chance at all to the Raia SC keeper Leo Colaco.

Guirdolim continued their domination with rivals Raia SC limping back to remain on equal footing. However, the Guirdolim lads were too strong in the defence as well as in the midfield which resulted in goals in both the sessions.

Guirdolim SC buttressed their lead in the 35th minute when Sadiq found the mark following a forward pass by Mario Fernandes. No sooner did Sadiq get the passs, he lost no time in banging the ball into the far corner of Raia SC nets.

Raia SC tried to regroup with some good passes and succeed in pulling a goal back through Jouston Barbosa who after receiving a cross from the right flank beat rival keeper Oswin Rodrigues with a gentle touch.

Guirdolim SC dominated major part of the second half proceedings with Danzil D’ Costa, Sevaraj D’Costa, Soccoro Fernandes and Rosario Fernandes moving deep inside the rival box to mount pressure on rival citadel.

Guirdolim’s hard effort bore fruits when Mario Fernandes scored their third goal as he dashed into the box to collect a nice pass off Sevaraj and then after dodging two rival defenders banged the ball in.

Guirdolim SC thereafter were in full cry and looked hungry for goals. They scored their fourth one through Sadiq in the 50th minute as he completed his brace with an angular effort from inside the box.
