A four-goal blitz by striker Levy Pereira enabled Salgaocar FC complete a 5-0 rout of Churchill Brothers SC in the GFA U-18 Air Arabia Football League match played at artificial turf ground, Fatorda-Margao, on Sunday. Aaron Barreto scored the other goal.

Salgaocar started the match on an attacking note, and just when the match was in the 10th minute striker Aaron Barreto provided the lead for the Green Brigade as he, after collecting a neat pass from the middle and on entering the box, lost no time in slamming it in past the bewildered Churchill Brothers SC keeper Keith Fernandes.

Eight minutes later, striker Levy Pereira doubled the lead for Salgaocar as he bulged the nets after receiving a slicing pass on the right flank. The goal was a result of fine coordination between medio Flezer Gomes and Ribhav Sardessai as the pair hoodwinked Churchill’s vulnerable defence and then passed the ball to an unmarked Levy, who lost no time in banging it home. In the very next minute, Levy’s solo effort saw Salgaocar FC go 3-0 up before the teams broke for lemon break.

In the second session, Salgaocar FC had a complete mastery over Churchill Brothers as they almost toyed with them with swift passes and positional play.

The Greens continued with their attacking play and scored two more goals as Levy went on a goal scoring spree. Salgaocar made it 4-0 in the 42nd minute when Levy found the target in great style. It was medio Ribhav Sardessai who made a long diagonal pass to Aaron Barreto, who in turn passed the ball to Levy and the in-form forward struck stylishly to the far corner of Churchill Brothers net to complete his hat-trick. And then in the 62nd minute, Levy scored his fourth goal of the day as he ran solo into the box before beating Churchill Brothers SC keeper with ease.
