PY Nuvem enter last four

Vagator: Francis Colaco’s late goal helped Parish Youth Nuvem book their place in the semifinals of 21st Vagator Soccer 2019 as they edged out CDJ Ribandar by a solitary goal in the quarterfinal played at Vagator PYSC ground, here on Sunday.

Ribandar should have taken the lead early when Sandesh Kavlekar set up Sachin Shirvoikar in the box but his powerful shot was brilliantly saved by Nuvem keeper Lawrance Dias.

At the other end, Nuvem midfielder Rogef Colaco’s sparkling strike was denied by the crossbar. Ribandar replied them with a swift attack from the right as Jayendra Kunkolkar found Deshank Kunkolkar with a perfect pass but the lad failed to keep his shot on target.

A few minutes later, Ribandar came with another swift move as this time Sandesh should have put his side ahead but the medio’s shot missed the target narrowly.

The South Goan side regrouped at the lemon break and came out stronger in the second session as they were dominant in the entire session. They had the best chance to surge ahead with just a few minutes after changing the ends as Rogef went for the glory from just outside the box but Ribandar keeper stretched to his limit to push the ball for a corner.

After some probing attacks, Nuvem finally managed to break Ribandar’s defence in the 46th minute when Francis’ drop shot gave no chance to Ribandar keeper Elesh Shirvoikar as it crashed in the net confirming PY Nuvem’s place in the last four.
