Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh will visit Goa on March 28 to pay his tributes to former chief minister the late Manohar Parrikar at a condolence meeting to be held at the open-air hall at the Kala Academy, Panaji.
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Monday said the condolence meeting will be held from 4:30 pm to 6 pm, where people from all walks of life will be present to pay their homage to the visionary leader of the state.
“Our beloved leader will always be remembered by future generations for his contributions to the society and the development works done for Goa. He will continue to live in
our hearts and continue to be our guiding force,” said Sawant while addressing BJP workers at the party headquarters in the city.
Earlier in the day, Sawant handed over the ‘kalashas’ or urns containing the ashes of the former chief minister to members of the BJP mandals from every constituency.
The ashes will be taken around all the 40 constituencies on Tuesday, and immerse in water bodies or rivers on the same evening.
The ceremony to hand over the urns was attended by state BJP president Vinay Tendulkar, Health Minister Vishwajit Rane, Power Minister Nilesh Cabral, Urban Development Minister Milind Naik and other party leaders.
