The department of Economics, Carmel College organised ECON 2018 that was attended by 12 colleges from Goa. This year’s theme was ‘Empower Youth to Empower India’.
Students from the economics stream presented a dance and musical performance depicting the multi-cultural influences on modern youth before the on-stage events began. Eco-Humour saw students analysing the impact of recent economic policy measures using witty dialogues tinged with humour; Eco-Fusion had participants show the changes in the Indian economy through group dance.
The six off-stage activities in the event were pictonomy, step-up, ad-valorem, eco-treasure, eco-rhymes and comiconomics which tested students’ different skills. Government College, Quepem won both on-stage events while St Xavier’s College and Government College, Khandola were runners-up. The Championship trophy along with a cash prize and certificates was awarded to St Xavier’s College, Mapusa while Government College, Quepem won second place.
