Techyon 2018 an annual inter-collegiate technical event of Padre Conceicao College of Engineering (PCCE), Verna, was celebrated robustly last week. The three day event starting from October 10 received strong participation from technical institutions in the state.
Day one was inaugurated by Ganesh Pushpakumar, senior manager, Siemens India, chief guest and Vishwesh Kamat, partner, Glazetek Systems, guest of honour. The inauguration was in the presence of Rev. Fr. Anthony Castello, director, Rev. Fr. Seby Rodrigues, assistant director, Dr Mahesh Parappagoudar, principal, Alzira Xavier, faculty in-charge, Techyon, head of departments, staff and students.
Addressing staff and students, Pushpakumar emphasized on the need for the students to participate in technical events and widen their knowledge. Kamat, pointed out the importance of right attitude along with aptitude for growth in the career path. He emphasized the importance of students taking part in technical events by citing his journey as an engineering student.
The welcome address was by Rev. Fr. Castello, and Dr Parappagoudar. A short film on the event was screened during the inaugural ceremony.
An annual inter-collegiate technical event, Techyon 2018, had students from leading technical institutions showcasing their skills. The sponsors included premier industrial and business houses.
‘This year we invited students from higher secondary and high school who participated in select events namely, general quiz, debate and science fair. We had a great response from these schools. They thoroughly enjoyed the events and look forward to being invited once again on campus for more events. We received a very positive feedback from the students considering that for the first time an engineering college organized an event exclusively for students of HSS,” said the college authorities. The valedictory function was on October 12. Alumnus Neil Pinto, deputy manager, quality assurance, CG Power and Industrial Solutions, was the chief guest at the event.
