In a bid to improve the performance of students and schools in the Thane district, nearly 2000 schools will be adopted by a government officials.
Taking over the reigns of the district, the District Collector Dr Mahendra Kalyankar told last night that the officials from various departments have been given the responsibility in addition to their tasks of improving the level of education and performance in the district.
“This idea is the brain child of the new Divisional Commissioner (DC) P K Deshmukh, who in the last meeting came out with the proposal which was readily accepted by the district officials,” he said.
“The officials will on one specified day i.e. on Friday visit the school and hold meeting with the staff, students and get to know their issues. They will undertake measures to improve the performance of the school and the students,” Dr Kalyankar said.
The Collector said a skill development centre was also planned in the district for the benefit of imparting trainings in various skills. This will be done with the help of CSR and Power Grid Corporation and the Jhindals are being tapped for the purpose.
