FC Goa coach Zico was not happy with the manner certain decisions went against FC Goa in their tie against FC Pune City. Despite the draw, the Brazilian was of the opinion that a few mistakes, if not committed, could have helped the Gaurs have a better day.
“Everything was against us. The guy who made some aggression against Leo Moura didn’t get any card but other player got card,” said Zico during the post match press briefing.
“I just don’t want them to do this kind of things to Goa,” said Zico recollecting earlier incidents .
“I m not asking help from referees but just justice. I can go home if things carry on like this,” said Zico.
Zico however seemed happy with the result as most of the first choice players were out with injuries.
“This is the first time we played this way. They gave everything they had. I am very happy with the boys. We created so many opportunities,” said Zico.
“Football is this way. We had six clear chances and we couldn’t score and they scored in their two chances they had,” he said.
“My only disappointment is that we had many chances and we didn’t score. They scored a pure merit goal,” he said.
Zico said the teams finishing has been his only disappointment.
FC Goa started for the first time with three defenders and Zico said that FC Pune scoring record with crosses and headers compelled him to chose the formation.
Zico said that his target is to be in the top four as it does not make any difference where one stands in the playoff -to stand first or fourth.
FC Pune City coach David Platt was content with the result.
“If I sit here now, then I’m delighted with the point because the game could have been beyond in the first half with the chances that they had,” said Platt.
“But there’s a tinge of disappointment as well because the longer the game went, I thought we looked more like the side that was going to win it. But all in all, I think we should be happy to take the point,” he said.
