2 policemen detained over bribe

The Anti Corruption Branch (ACB) of the Directorate of Vigilance detained two police personnel, including one officer, in connection with an alleged bribery case during a raid conducted at a location in Margao
on Monday.

Both the police personnel are attached to the Konkan Railway police station, sources said. They said the Anti Corruption Branch team was at the Konkan Railway police station in Margao till late in the night.

According to information received, the Anti Corruption Branch team, led by a senior police officer, conducted the raid. It is learnt that a bribe was demanded in a
gold theft case allegedly from an accused person, who subsequently approached the Anti Corruption Branch with
his complaint.

Sources said the Anti Corruption Branch team was going through records and computer data at the Konkan Railway police station till late in
the night. The Anti Corruption Branch is yet to issue an official statement
in the matter.
