A day after land grab accused Siddhique alias Suleiman Khan (54) claimed that he was threatened by police personnel at gunpoint and forced to record 15 different videos on a mobile phone against politicians,

including one where he named AAP Goa president Amit Palekar, Goa police on Thursday ordered an inquiry into the allegations made by Khan.

In the second video, Khan had said that he named an MLA from the ruling party and police officers at the behest of Palekar.

According to reports, Khan provided this detail to some media houses over phone from the Central jail at Colvale earlier this week.

Khan is currently in judicial custody.

In this connection, Goa police have seized the mobile phone used by Khan. However, according to sources, while the mobile phone has been seized, the mobile number from which Khan had called
is active.

Khan had also spoken to media persons outside a court when he was escorted there for a hearing on Wednesday. “I was threatened at gunpoint by police, I was given electric shock…the second video is fake,” said Khan as he was being taken to the court
in Panaji.

Director General of Police (DGP) Alok Kumar said, “An inquiry has been ordered in this connection and it will be conducted by a SP rank officer.”

Khan had escaped from the crime branch police custody with the help of Indian Reserve Battalion (IRBn) police constable Amit Naik on December 13. Khan was subsequently nabbed by the police in Kerala and brought to Goa on December 23.

The first video of Khan was released by Kawthankar on December 16. Khan, in the first video, had claimed that a 12-member team of Goa police had executed his escape plan. Khan had also named an MLA from the ruling party and some police officers.

On December 23, in the second video, which had gone viral on social media, Khan claimed that he had named the MLA from the ruling party and also some police officers at the behest of Palekar.

Old Goa police had questioned Palekar on three different occasions with regard to the first video in connection with the case related to escape from custody.

Last month, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the alleged multi crore land scam had filed chargesheets in two different cases against one of the main accused Khan. Chargesheets were filed before courts in Mapusa and Valpoi.

Similarly, the Old Goa police have also filed chargesheet against Khan, former IRBn police constable Amit Naik and Hajaratasab Bavannavar alias Hazrat Ali (34), who is from Old Hubballi, Karnataka, in connection with the case of escape from police custody. Ali was arrested for allegedly harbouring the accused Khan.
