India head coach Manolo takes all 28 Blue Tigers from Kolkata camp for June 4 clash
Kolkata: India head coach Manolo Márquez has confirmed a 28-player travelling squad for the FIFA friendly against Thailand on June 4 at Thammasat Stadium in Pathum Thani. All members of the ongoing Kolkata camp, which began on May 19, will depart Wednesday evening, with kick-off scheduled for 18:00 IST.
Following the Thailand fixture, the Blue Tigers will head to Hong Kong on June 5 to prepare for the AFC Asian Cup 2027 Qualifiers Final Round match against the hosts on June 10 (17:30 IST).
In Kolkata, the team completed six days of intensive training, combining morning gym sessions with evening on-pitch drills. To sharpen their match fitness, India contested two practice games: a 2-1 win over Santosh Trophy champions Bengal on May 26, courtesy of goals from Brandon Fernandes and Ashique Kuruniyan; followed by a 3-0 victory over North 24 Parganas on May 27, with Sunil Chhetri, Chinglensana Singh Konsham and Udanta Singh on target.
The 28-member squad features four goalkeepers—Hrithik Tiwari, Vishal Kaith, Gurmeet Singh and Amrinder Singh—alongside ten defenders headed by Sandesh Jhingan and Anwar Ali. The midfield pack includes Suresh Singh Wangjam, Liston Colaco, Brandon Fernandes and Ashique Kuruniyan, while the forward line is led by veteran Sunil Chhetri, Lallianzuala Chhangte and Manvir Singh. Supporting Márquez are assistants Mahesh Gawali and Benito Montalvo, goalkeeper coach Marc Gamon and strength and conditioning specialist José Carlos Barroso.
This Thailand friendly marks the final tune-up before India’s decisive qualifier in Hong Kong.
