They seal inter-collegiate title as Sirijana Thapa named best player

Taleigao: Rosary College of Commerce & Arts, Navelim, delivered a commanding performance to capture the Inter Collegiate Taekwondo Women’s Championship 2025–26, hosted by Goa University at the Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Stadium. VVM’s Shree Damodar College of Commerce & Economics, Margao, and Government College of Arts, Science & Commerce, Khandola, shared the joint runners-up honours after a fiercely contested two-day meet.

The standout of the championship was Rosary’s Sirijana Thapa, who not only bagged gold in the U46kg category but was also crowned Best Taekwondo Player of the tournament. Rosary’s medal charge didn’t stop there, as teammates Swaroopa Redkar (U49kg) and Antara Assolkar (U57kg) added two more golds, underscoring the college’s depth and dominance across weight divisions.

Government College of Arts, Science & Commerce, Khandola, also made their mark with Priyanka Vishwakarma clinching gold in the U53kg event, while Sharufa Fernandes (GCQ) powered to the top of the podium in the U62kg category.

In heavier divisions, MES Vasant Joshi College’s Taiwa Mascarenhas (U67kg) and Nirmala Institute’s Sneha Fernandes (U73kg) each secured gold, while Numa Subba of Shree Damodar College triumphed in the Above 73kg class.

The presentation ceremony was graced by Francis Lobo and Theofile Lowe. Medals and trophies were handed out in the presence of Balachandra Jadar.
