Sporting Clube de Goa battled past Churchill Brothers 2-1 in the Goa Professional League at Raia Panchayat ground on Friday.

Sporting struck early, breaking through in the fourth minute with a sharp one-two. Haokip exchanged passes with Doyal Alves at the edge of the box, collected the return ball and drove forward before firing into the bottom corner to put his side ahead.

Churchill responded almost immediately, levelling two minutes later. Rajendra Bairola launched a long throw toward goal, and Sporting goalkeeper Abhimanyu Singh misjudged the flight, getting a touch but fumbling it into his own net to make it 1–1.

The second half saw Sporting coach introduce Rohan Rodrigues to add thrust down the left. The substitution paid off on the hour mark when Rohan’s low cross found Doyal Alves, who finished with a simple tap-in to restore the lead. Churchill’s evening worsened in the dying minutes as centre-back Clive Miranda received a second yellow card for catching Rohan Rodrigues with an elbow.
