‘Narrow escape for three couples from state’

Panaji: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Wednesday disclosed that his government is in touch with the 26 Goan tourists presently on a visit to Jammu and Kashmir, adding that security measures have been beefed up in Goa in the wake of the recent terror attack in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir.
Security has been tightened in the state as Goa too is a popular tourist destination, Sawant said.
The Chief Minister revealed that three Goan couples narrowly escaped the Pahalgam terror attack, as they left the scene of crime just 15 minutes before the incident occurred.
Furthermore, Sawant informed that his government is in active communication with all the 26 people from Goa, who are currently in Jammu and Kashmir. He also assured all necessary assistance to ensure their well-being and safe return to Goa.
Sawant maintained that in view of the terror attack all the events planned in the state for his birthday on April 24 have been cancelled, except for welfare programmes like blood donation, and so on.
