The Margao ITI is set to be shifted to a new premises, with the state granting administrative approval to transfer 7,000 square metres of land for the purpose.
In a response to an LAQ tabled by Navelim BJP MLA Ulhas Tuenkar, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, who is also the Minister for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, said that the government has approved the transfer of a plot measuring 7,000 sq m in land bearing PT Sheet No. 197, Chalta No. 61 at Margao, Salcete taluka, belonging to the PWD, to the Directorate of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.
Sawant said that the transfer is being expedited by following due procedure. Once the land is transferred by the PWD to the Department of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, the tendering process will begin immediately.
It was also informed that the Government ITI at Borda-Margao currently has 15 workshop blocks and one administration block, along with an IT lab, AV room, library, and MI/DI facilities. The institute offers 11 trades with sufficient workshop space, tools, and equipment.
At the extension ITI at Aquem Baixo, Navelim, three workshop blocks, six trades, and two classrooms are available, also with adequate workshop space, tools, and equipment.
